Come support young local artists and artisans at a unique arts and crafts fair for kids (only) on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wintergreen Arts Center. Kids-only vendors will sell their own creations, including artwork, handmade suncatchers, pet products, bracelets, necklaces, magnets, slime, and more.
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Come support young local artists and artisans at a unique arts and crafts fair for kids (only) on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wintergreen Arts Center. Kids-only vendors will sell their own creations, including artwork, handmade suncatchers, pet products, bracelets, necklaces, magnets, slime, and more.
“This event is a great learning experience and builds confidence for the kids,” said Mélanie Cyr, private party and event planner at Wintergreen. “It really brings out the little entrepreneur in all of them.”
Cyr believes that participating in the fair is a confidence factor for children, a chance for them to speak for themselves about something that they are passionate about and that they are proud to create.
“They have a goal to achieve and a deadline to meet.” Cyr added. “They also have the ability to work with cash and make change.”
Cyr says his favorite part of the event is in the last half hour when the young vendors grab their hard-earned cash and go shopping.
“They check other crafters’ tables and other people’s items,” she said. “They are so positive and encouraging towards each other. It’s a great way to end the experience.
FREE ENTRANCE. Everyone is welcome.
Vendors can team up and share a table or go solo. They must be under the age of 18 or be under the age of 18. The cost is $20, and each vendor must find a sponsor — a parent, relative, business, or friend — and complete a contract. Sorry, no homemade food items for sale.
